Katakana Project

I hope it can be seen pretty well, it kind of got cut off, so I tried to fill some of it in ^_^

Katakana Analysis

サクサク
ロケットガール

These are two statements that I found in katakana in 2 different places. One was on the front of a candy bag, the other on the front of a magazine. These 2 statements when written in katakana as opposed to hirigana seem to have a different meaning. One they, stand out from the rest of the words around them. So automatically one starts to think that this word is different from the others. The fact that these words are different is true. Katakana according to text books is used for a couple of different reasons, the main 3 being onomatopoeias, loan words, and emphasis. These 3 categories, especially emphasis leave a very broad range of what words can use katakana. It seems that words written in katakana have a certain importance about them. When a word is in katakana, it is unique and it stands out. Therefore, it automatically seems more important. The effect it leaves on the reader is one of knowing that the katakana word is written that way for a reason, especially the emphasis and sound words. It used for proper nouns like people's name, so you know its important because people are important. わたしはかたかながあまりわあかりません。 However, I know it is important. It's different in our books becuase people interperet it differently and use it differently. So really katakana is an abstract thing that can be used the way you want to it seems.
